Official Statement on Transferring St. Joseph’s Patients to CareOne at Hanover.

At the request and direction of the New Jersey Department of Health and Governor Phil Murphy, the residents at St. Joseph’s Seniors’ Home Nursing Center & Assisted Living are being transferred into the care of CareOne Wednesday, March 25th. The order was issued after the health department declared a public health emergency and the Woodbridge facility an imminent public health hazard when a number of residents and caregivers tested positive. While CareOne and St. Joseph’s had no prior relationship, we immediately began working with the state and local officials and St. Joseph’s, and the state determined it was in the best interest of both the COVID-19 positive residents, and those not impacted by the virus, to transfer all patients to another facility. Reviewing the availability of rooms in our facilities, we were able to temporarily relocate our residents from CareOne at Hanover Township in Whippany to nearby CareOne facilities, enabling us to accommodate the St. Joseph patients. Public health officials have expressed confidence in our integrated health care network to provide the hands-on clinical care necessary for these patients in such a trying and difficult time.

As such, we are closely monitoring the condition of all the patients and residents from St. Joseph’s and will provide them with the best quality healthcare possible, which starts with getting them into our facility. CareOne plans on mobilizing our network of supportive services throughout the system to make this transition as comfortable and orderly as possible. We are reviewing the residents’ records, which all existed on paper at St. Joseph’s, to get a better sense of the scope of positive cases, and the condition of patients. Simultaneously we continue to care for all residents across our multi-state network.

We extend our deepest thanks to the staff, nurses and residents at all our facilities for their help and understanding during this national emergency, and send thoughts and prayers to all the families impacted. We will have more information for the public as it becomes available.”
