CareOne Hosts Bone Marrow And Fundraising Drives In Support Of #Hope4Adam
CareOne has joined the world-wide effort to help find a life-saving bone marrow match for 31-yeard-old father of three, Adam Krief.
Fort Lee, NJ – September 26, 2016 – CareOne, New Jersey’s largest privately-owned senior care company, has partnered with Community Blood Services and Be The Match to coordinate bone marrow and fundraising drives to help find a bone marrow match for Adam Krief. Diagnosed with primary myelofibrosis, a rare blood cancer, the 31-year-old father of three has yet to find a life-saving match among the 13-million people included in the bone marrow registry. His search for a match has gone viral on social media through the #Hope4Adam campaign, encouraging people to join the bone marrow registry in hopes of increasing Adam’s chances of finding a match.
“When I heard Adam’s story, I knew we had to do something to help,” said CareOne Executive Vice President Elizabeth Straus. “As a family-owned health care company, CareOne saves lives and values family. In the past, our team has worked together to raise more than $5 million for various charitable causes and I am confident that we can make the impossible possible once again. We will do everything we can to help find a match, not just for Adam, but for others looking for a bone marrow match.” According to Community Blood Services, more than 950 New Jersey and New York residents are in need of bone marrow transplants. “By organizing a company-wide bone marrow drive across New Jersey, CareOne will contribute hundreds of new members to the bone marrow registry, increasing the possibility of finding a match for those in need,” said Community Blood Services Community Engagement Representative Elise Johansen.
