CareOne Food Service Directors Create Healthy, Innovative Meals
Food and nutrition are an important part of the recovery process. “At CareOne, our dietary staff works hard to prepare nutritious and healthy restaurant-quality meals for our patients and participates regularly in hands-on continuing education workshops to enhance our menu options,” said Debra Ryan, Director of Nutrition at Woodcrest Health Care Center. For example, at this month’s New Jersey Food Service Director’s meeting, held at US Foods, our Food Services Directors participated in a contest called “Sandwich Shop”. The activity focused on developing and plating the most creative sandwich using provided products prepared for our team.
Our Food Service Directors did an outstanding job creating a variety of delicious and healthy sandwich options. Congratulations to the contest winners:
First Place – Adithya Iskandar, CareOne at Cresskill
Third Place – Fabio Corrales, CareOne at Wayne
We also had a plate decorating contest with JM Smuckers to create beautifully decorated dessert plates. Congratulations to contest winners Jessie Ikurekong, CareOne at Somerset Valley and Colleen Welsh, CareOne at King James.
Our Food Services Directors look forward to taking what they learned at our monthly meeting and creating new and healthy recipes at all CareOne New Jersey centers.
