CareOne at East Brunswick celebrates milestone birthday
By Mary A. DelValle, ACC, MSA, LNHA, Director of Recreation, CareOne at East Brunswick
On April 5th, 2011, CareOne at East Brunswick resident Rose Bash, along with her family, friends and CareOne residents and staff, celebrated her 100th birthday. Wearing a T-shirt that read “100 years old and still sexy,” Rose enjoyed a special celebration that included a lunch provided by the Bash family. The food included 10 pizza pies, antipasto, 10 pounds of shrimp, garden salad, macaroni and potato salads, rolls, cupcakes and a sheet cake. It was indeed a feast commensurate with a 100th birthday celebration!
After lunch, everyone was invited to the main dining room to continue the celebration with entertainer Bruce Foster. President and Mrs. Obama were among the well wishers who sent Rose a 100th birthday greeting! East Brunswick Mayor David Stahl also stopped by to honor Rose and wish her a happy birthday. East Brunswick High School students were also invited and honored Rose by making crafts for her. One of the students even made Rose a birthday cake made out of paper!
It was clear that Rose delighted in the festivities and the party in her honor. When asked to say a couple of words to her guests, Rose thanked everyone for helping her celebrate this special birthday.
